I can’t believe, this is the last week before the One Young World Summit. Together with 1300 leaders from all corners of the globe will descend in Ottawa. This Summit is one of the largest gatherings of nations in the world. The past few weeks were so intensive and passed so quick, that I have not been able fully evaluate what a wonderful experience is waiting for me!
This will be my first time attending the One Young World Summit and my first time to carry Lithuania’s flag in the opening ceremony together with other fellow delegates from more than 190 countries around the world! This is a great honor for me to represent my country and Western Union in such global event!
The last days before the summit is all about planning and checking whether everything is set. Probably, all the delegates have the same thought popping up sometimes throughout per day – “hmmm… do I really haven’t forgotten anything…?”
I am expecting come back from the summit with much advanced global perception and the limitless mindset on the current global threats and the opportunities to create a better tomorrow for all of us. The OYW Summit provides a platform for the young leaders to empower themselves and the others in order to start taking action on the things that really matters for humanity.
This year, WU has a very promising and colorful OYW team. All the delegates have great minds, amazing ideas, different experience and very interesting backgrounds. We are truly global team with real super powers!!! Starting with and following the Summit we will concentrate on the refugee crisis because we all stand #WithRefugees. We will be working together to deliver a Learning Action Plan responding to refugee crisis, that aligns with overall WU’s strategy. As someone has said: “whoever saves one life saves the entire world”. I hope our actions will help to save many lives.
